The Nominating Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors to ensure the continued successful operation of the association. They supervise the nomination process and elections of the next Board. CHRONOLOGY:The Committee is formed at any Board of Directors Meeting 60 days prior to the Association anniversary date of 15 October. The Committee is empanelled for the time interval covering the election of new Board members to end at the Association anniversary, 15 October. AUTHORITY:The Committee is empowered by the By-Laws, under direction of the Board is charged with the responsibility to oversee the nominating process to ensure that all the residents are given an opportunity to nominate themselves and cast a vote for those names which appear on the ballot.
The following is an outline for what could be deemed the mission of the committee:Composition:Members shall be selected/appointed by the Board President in the manner provided for in the bylaws. There are three (3) or more members. At least one Board Member should oversee the activities of the committee. Members of the committee will elect the chairman. Purpose:To prepare and present an annual slate of candidates to serve as an elected Board of the Association. Responsibilities:
Meetings:As determined by the committee's work plan. ELECTION:Ballots will be distributed to each resident to be used for voting for at least nine Board of Directors. Since the term expires 1 year after the date of the first annual meeting, the term expires October 15th. Thus the Election Ballot should include at least 9 candidates. The election will be held at the Annual Meeting. Since the ballot contains only nine residents, no actual vote needs to be done according to the by-laws. However, when a call for Nominees from the floor occur, and a resident nominates himself, then he/she will be added to the ballot and a vote will then take place. Votes will be counted and the results given to the members in attendance and later published in the Newsletter. |
